A Quiet Moment

I had read this prompt early this morning. I thought that I will honor this prompt. I shall spend a quiet moment today. A moment where I will take my book and I will sit in the park outside my apartment on that bench I had been eyeing all these months. Yes, that’s my quiet moment, I thought.

I meditated, as usual. I cleaned my house, rearranged the wardrobe. I read for a while. I sat by the window and looked out of the house. I lit incense and watched the smoke drift gently by. I watched pancakes sizzle in the pan. In the evening, by the time it was evening, I slipped on my shoes, and went outside, thinking of the bench and the book. Ah, life. It always fools us.The quiet moment is not one to be created. The quiet moment existed every single time. I didn’t see it. It is not a quiet moment merely because we have tea or sit with a book or listen to music or meditate. The quiet begins from within. The quiet is when we are not silencing our thoughts, but accepting them. The quiet moment is that when the shadows lengthen and we smile our light deeper. The quiet moment is when we hear the voices of our soul the loudest. Every single moment begs you for quiet. How much am I giving?
